Back Story
In the summer of 1860, General Thaddeus Archibald Weaver was preparing for the family’s traditional
yearly barbeque, but this year he had a surprise. While looking in the cellar of the “old house”, he found
a sauce recipe under a loose plank in the floor. After making it, and having a small taste, he decided to
serve it with the barbeque. Once the whole family arrived and sat at the grand table, dinner was
served. He urged his family to “dig in and use plenty of sauce!” Well, everyone loved the sauce and did
as he instructed, used plenty, but after a while, things started getting crazy. When one person ran out,
they tried to get some of another’s which caused a fight and next thing you know, there was an all out
Whuppin’ brawl. The family fought all that night and all the next day until the sauce was completely
gone. General Weaver, thinking that it must have been the heat of summer that caused the ruckus,
decided to let his troops try the sauce. It was then, that General Weaver got a full taste of the sauce,
which made him as wild as a boar, and when everyone dug in it didn’t take long for the Whuppin’ to
start. At the end of a couple of weeks, there was only one man still standing, holding a jar of that sauce…
General Weaver. Despite a blackened eye and several knots on his head, he had whupped every man
necessary to have the sauce to himself. Now, as you can see, that’s why we call it General Weaver’s
